Proof of Work
The system where computers solve puzzles to add blocks and earn coins, securing the network.
Proof of work is the method Malairte uses to decide who adds the next block and to keep the blockchain secure. Computers on the network compete to solve a difficult mathematical puzzle. The first to find a valid answer earns the right to add the next block of transactions and receives newly created Malairte as a reward. The puzzle is hard to solve but easy for everyone else to check, so cheating is quickly caught. Because Malairte is designed to be CPU and GPU friendly, ordinary home computers can take part in this work, rather than only industrial machines. The real cost of electricity and effort is what makes attacking the network impractical.
